John Deacon
As a practicing lawyer for 55 years, I been involved with the legal system and the buildings constructed to house the courts. My travels over the years have taken me to every state and state capital in the United States. I began to notice that each county had a distinct courthouse and, I began to photograph the buildings and gather information. In addition, I have now photographed every county courthouse in the lower 48 states and courthouses in Canada and Mexico. As well I have visited 172 countries around the world plus many non countries such as Anguilla, Greenland, Gibraltar, etc.
I am now a retired member of the Law Society of Manitoba , Canada and was appointed as King’s Counsel in 1997. King’s Counsel is an honorary title bestowed on a lawyer to recognize exceptional merit in their profession. I retired from the firm of D’Arcy & Deacon LLP in 2022 and set up the D’Arcy and Deacon Trust Fund with The Winnipeg Foundation whereby the lawyers and staff each year select the charitable recipients.
D’Arcy & Deacon LLP was founded May 1, 1871 when David M Walker QC opened an office in Winnipeg, Canada. The firm has been in continuous practice for 153 years. The firm is one of the oldest law firms in Canada.
