Northwest Territories became a Territory on July 15, 1870. Yellowknife is the territorial capital.

Highest Point – Mount Nirvana at 2,773 meters ( 9,098 feet ) is located in the southwest
Lowest Point – Artic Ocean ( sea level ) is located along the north
