Terrace is named for the natural flat benches or terraces within the broad Skeena River Valley.

 

Location:  Terrace is located in the northwest part of the Province.

Judicial District:  Prince Rupert Judicial District

Built:  1980 – 1983

Style:  Modern

Architect:  Santar & Condie Architects of Terrace

Contractor:  Dura Construction Ltd. of Saanichton

 

Description:  The building faces north and is a two story concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the centre of Terrace and is triangular in shape extending south. The roof line is flat. In the interior are three courtrooms which are located along the south side. The building houses the Supreme Court and the Provincial Court.

 

Note:  The cost of construction was $2,598,000.
