North Slope is the name of the geographical region in the north of Alaska.

Utquiagvik is a name which refers to a place for gathering wild roots. Barrow was named for Point Barrow, named Point Barrow was named after Sir John Barrow of the British Admiralty by explorer Frederock William Beechey in 1825.
