Description: The building faces east and is a five story silver coloured cladding, glass and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the city centre. The “V” shaped building is curved on the northwest side and has no windows along the south side. The main entrance on the east side of the first story. The windows are horizontal with silver coloured clading between each story. The roof line is flat. The building is named as Harbour Place.
History: Sydney County was created in 1785 and Sydney was selected as the county seat. The first courthouse was built in 1786 on North Charlotte Street. In 1836 Cape Breton County was created and Sydney was selected as the county seat. The second courthouse was built in 1868 on Desbarres Street. The third courthouse was designed by Hopson Brothers and built in 1901 on Charlotte Street. The building burned on November 12, 1959 and no courthouse was constructed until 1961 to 1962 when the fourth courthouse was constructed. In the 1990’s the fifth and present courthouse was constructed.

Description: The building faces north and is a five story glass and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds along a slope to the south of the centre of Sydney. The north front has vertical concrete pillars with a recessed wall. The central entrance is glass with glass wall above. The roof line is flat. The building has been converted into a library.
