Queretaro originates from the Tarasco and from the Queretaparazicuyo or Ychahtzicuyo and was abridged to “Queretaro” meaning “game of ball”. There is another version that the name originates from “querendar” which means “place of large stones people or cliffs”.

Known as the Casa de la Corregidora, the building was the home of Dona Josefa Ortiz, the person who informed Ignacio Perez of the plans to arrest the independence conspirators. The Governor’s Conference Room, is where Dona Josefa Ortiz was locked up.
