Description: The building faces east and is a two story buff colored limestone, glass and concrete structure. The rectangular shaped building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Minneapolis. The east front has vertical glass panels and a canopy at the main entrance located towards the south side. The north and south walls are white colored limestone. The roof line is flat. In the interior, the walls are lined with gray colored marble. The County District Court courtroom is located on the west side of the second story. The building houses the County District Court of the 28th Judicial District. On the west side is the two story Sheriff Office and County Jail.

History: The county was created in 1860 and Ayersburg (Lindsey) was selected as the county seat. The county seat was moved to Minneapolis in 1860. The county rented premises and the court was attached to Davis County (Geary County) in Junction City. The first courthouse was a two story brick structure built by Kelly & Stephenson in Minneapolis in 1886 with interior work by Limdgren & Manly. The second and present courthouse was constructed in 1956 to 1957.
