Description: The building faces northeast and is a two story rusticated sandstone and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Big Timber. The northeast front has an arched entrance in the center of the first story. There is an arched entrance on the south side. The building has a red colored roof. In the interior a wood staircase ascends to the second story. The County District Court courtroom is located on the northwest side of the second story. The building houses the County District Court of the 6th Judicial District and County Justice Court. The building was remodeled in 1928. The architect was John G Link Inc. of Billings. An addition was built on the southwest and northwest sides.

History: The county was created in 1895 and Big Timber was selected as the county seat. The first and present courthouse was constructed in 1897 to 1898 at a cost of $9,590.
