Emporia

Emporia is named for the town of Emporia in Kansas and was a merger of the towns of Belfield and Hicksford in 1887.

Location:  315 South Main Street / Hicksford Avenue

 

Description:  The City Courts are located in the Greensville County Courthouse.

 

See:  The 6th Judicial Circuit includes Brunswick County, Greensville County, Hopewell, Prince George CountySurry County and Sussex County.

 

History:  The Independent City was created in 1967. The first and present courthouse was constructed in 1831 to 1834.
