Description: The building faces east and is a one story light red colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Sidney. The east front has an open quadrangle surrounded by white colored pillars. Around the quadrangle is the main entrance on the west side. A garden is located on the east side of the quadrangle. The roof line is flat. In the interior the main hallway runs north-south with the County District Court courtroom on the west side at the center of the building. The County Court courtroom adjoins on the southwest side and is smaller in size. The building houses the County District Court and County Court of the 12th Judicial District.

History: The county was created in 1867 and was attached to Lincoln County. Sidney was selected as the county seat in 1870 when the county was organized. The first courthouse was a wood frame structure was built in 1871. The second courthouse was a two story brick structure designed by C F Goodhand and constructed by Falls River Construction Company in 1909 to 1911. The courthouse was demolished. The cornerstone has been placed in the wall of the present courthouse. The third and present courthouse was constructed in 1966 to 1967.
