Reagan County is named for John Henninger Reagan, who was postmaster general of the confederacy and leader of the United States Democratic Party in Texas.

Description: The building faces south and is a three story buff colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of the city. The square shaped building is located on spacious grounds. The south front has a central framed entrance. Vertical pilasters rise from the second story to the top of the third story. A wide cornice runs below the flat roof line. The courtroom is located on the second story. On the northwest side is a one story annex constructed in 1957.

Note: The first courthouse was built at Stiles in 1904. The second courthouse was a two story stone structure designed and built by William Martin in Stiles in 1911. The third courthouse was constructed in Big Lake at a cost of $50,000.

Description: The building faces west and is a two story buff colored stone structure. The square building stands in ruins with no roof. There is a one story arched porch at the center of each side of the building. The building was abandoned in 1925 when the county seat was moved to Big Lake.
