Description: The building faces south and is a three story concrete and glass structure. The building is located on a low hill with spacious grounds. The north section is a three story rectangular building with horizontal windows on the north and south sides. On the south side is a one story entrance section with porch on the east side. The roof line is flat. In the interior are five County Superior Court courtrooms.

First County Courthouse – Monterey
Location: 570 Pacific Street / Madison Street

Description: The building faces east and is a two story wood and white colored stone structure. The rectangular shaped building is located on spacious grounds in the center of Monterey. The east front has a projecting center section supported by two large columns rising to a pediment at the roof line. Dual stairs ascend to the second story. The hipped roof has red colored shingles. The building served as the first county courthouse from 1850 to 1873. The building is named as Colton Hall.
