Description: The building faces south and is a two story red colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Brunswick to the north of the old courthouse. The south front has a large portico supported by four large white colored columns. Above the portico is a balcony. The entrance is arched with white colored trim. A balustrade runs along the flat roof line. A horizontal narrow stone band runs below the second story windows. The building houses the County Superior Court, County State Court, County Probate Court and County Magistrate Court of the 1st Judicial District.

Old County Courthouse – Brunswick

Description: The building faces south and is a two story buff colored brick, stone and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Brunswick. The south front has a large portico supported by four large columns rising to a wide header. Above the header is a balustrade. There are east and west wings which extend slightly from the main building. On the center of the roof is a octagonal open sided white colored dome with clock at the top and green colored roof. In the interior, there are marble stairs with iron railings and columns. The second story contains the former courtroom which has a balcony and now serves as the Commissioners Meeting Room. The building houses county offices. The new courthouse is located to the north.

Note: The first state constitution in 1777 created eight counties: Burke County, Camden County, Chatham County, Effingham County, Glynn County, Liberty County, Richmond County and Wilkes County. These were carved out of the coastal areas that were settled when Georgia was a British colony.

History: The county was created in 1777 and Frederica was selected as the county seat. In 1778, the county seat was moved to Brunswick. The first courthouse was built in Brunswick 1817 but the court then met in the Glynn County Academy in 1845 as the courthouse was not suitable. The second courthouse was a three story brick structure built in 1883 to 1884. The third courthouse was constructed in 1906 and 1907 which is still standing. The fourth and present courthouse was constructed in 1990 to 1991.

Description: The building faces north and is a two story brown colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Brunswick to the southeast of the courthouse. The central entrance on the north front has a green colored canopy. The roof line is flat. The County Juvenile Court is located in room 150.
