Description: The building faces east and is a two story red colored brick, concrete, iron and wood structure. The rectangular shaped building is located on spacious landscaped grounds in the center of Ridgeland. The building has a large portico supported by four large white colored Ionic columns with a pediment above. There is a white colored horizontal band above the second story windows. The roof is hipped with gables on the north and south. In the interior, the first story has a cross-hallway plan dividing the space into four quadrants. At the north side is a double-run stair which ascends to the second story where the large County Circuit Court courtroom occupies most of the floor space. Behind the judge’s bench is a tabernacle frame rising to a pediment. There is a small County Circuit court courtroom on the first story. The building houses the County Circuit Court, County Family Court and County Probate Court of the 14th Judicial Circuit. On the west side is the Clementa C Pinckney Government Building.

History: The county was created in 1912 and Ridgeland was selected as the county seat. The present courthouse constructed in 19`5 to 1916 is the first and only courthouse erected in the county.
