Covington is named for Leonard Covington, hero of the Siege of Fort Recovery and Congressman from Maryland.

Description:  The City Courts are located in the Allegany County Courthouse.

History:  The Independent City was created in 1952. The first and present courthouse was constructed in 1919 to 1911.
