Gooding County is named for Frank R Gooding, who was the seventh Governor of Idaho and a United States Senator.

Description:  The building  faces west and is a one story light colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Gooding, The west front has a porch at the center section supported by six brick pillars. There is a wide horizontal band running along the flat roof line. In the interior, the County District Court courtroom ids located on north side and the County Magistrate Court is located on the south side of the building. The building houses the County District Court and County Magistrate Court of the 5th Judicial District.

History:  The county was created in 1913 and Gooding was selected as the county seat. The first courthouse was a three story wood frame hotel with a fourth floor as dormers, built in 1908. The second and present courthouse was constructed in 1969 to 1971.
