Description: The building faces east and is a three story red colored brick, concrete and glass structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Grenada. The east front has vertical red colored brick dividers with windows between. The entrance is on the east side of a lower section on the north side. The entrance is recessed with two high vertical windows on the second story. The roof line is flat. The building houses the County Circuit Court of the 5th Judicial District, County Chancery Court and County Youth Court. The Justice Court is located on the west side of the building.

History: The county was created in 1870 and Grenada was selected as the county seat. The first courthouse was an old storehouse which the county purchased for $3,000 in 1870 and used until 1833. In 1878, the county was struck by a yellow fever epidemic. The second courthouse was built in 1883 to 1884 at a cost of $17,575. The building remained in use for almost 80 years until it was torn down and the third and present courthouse was constructed in 1960 to 1961 on the same site.
